On Wednesday I decided at the last minute to throw together a quick cosplay for Gold Coast Supanova. I had originally planned just to go vintage geek for the weekend, partly because I was bedridden for 4 days just before the con, and partly because I had a table in the Artist Alley and knew cosplaying might be difficult. But in the end, I just couldn’t bear the thought of not cosplaying all weekend!
I needed something I could make from stash, so I settled on Rose Tyler, as I already had the jacket and the pink bridal satin in my stash. I think this is probably the quickest costume I’ve EVER put together! It only took a couple hours to cut and sew the skirt together, including in-seam pockets, and all the pleats. Then I let it hang overnight so the hem would drop, marked the straight hem (which was the most time consuming part of the whole process), and did a rolled hem on my overlocker. SO quick!
I know it’s not 100% accurate, but I still had tons of fun wearing it! I definitely plan to make a proper bodice and style a wig for a photoshoot later this year. Bring on the sequins!!
